Scattering in uniform media (for correction of nuclear medicine images)

Abstract

The author has modelled the transport of photons from point or ring sources within uniform scattering media using Monte Carlo techniques. The results of the model agree with experimental data for these simple cases. While spectra from SPECT studies are much more complicated than the work presented, this work is a first step toward modelling scatter from multiple and distributed sources within non-uniform scattering media.
