Hybrid structures consisting of TaC nanowires and activated carbon microfibers are synthesized via a carbothermal method using bamboo fibers as both the carbon source and the template. The nanowires exhibit a Young's modulus of 364.7 GPa and low electrical resistivity of 63.6 μΩ·cm. These unique hierarchical heterostructures of TaC/C demonstrate remarkable energy storage capabilities as a new promising material for high performance supercapacitors.
