The frog heart contains high amounts of adrenaline, only little noradrenaline and insignificant amounts of dopamine and 5‐hydroxytryptamine. By means of a highly sensitive and specific fluorescence method for the cellular detection of certain monoamines, it has been shown that adrenaline is located in adrenergic nerves. Investigations on the innervation of the kidney and urinary bladder as well have furnished evidence that adrenaline is the adrenergic transmitter in the frog.
