The literature covering the subject of the heart in myxedema is marked by paucity, contradiction, and confusion. In 1918 Zondek1 introduced the term "myxedema heart" and described its characteristics as follows:I. Before treatment with thyroid.1. Dilatation of the left and right heart which may be of a very high degree.2. Slow, indolent heart action with normal blood pressure.3. Lowering of the auricular wave and the T-wave of the electrocardiogram.II. Following treatment with thyroid.1. Return...Bibliography1 ZONDEK H: Das Myxödemherz, München med.
