Abstract

A 25-gauge vitrectomy technique, without the use of a phacofragmatome, may be a suitable alternative to 20-gauge vitreous surgery using a phacofragmatome in the management of retained lens fragments after complicated cataract surgery. Clinical outcomes and complication rates are comparable to those found in the literature for 20-gauge surgery.
