Abstract This paper describes the measurement of seventeen charge-transfer cross-sections in the energy ranges 10 to 300 eV, 3 to 40 keV. The dependence of the cross-sections on energy can in most cases be explained on ‘near-adiabatic’ theory, but A+ in Kr, Ne+ in A and C+ in Kr show anomalous cross-sections of 1 to 2 πα20, varying slowly with energy, in the near-adiabatic region; these are possibly due to the pseudo-crossing of the potential energy curves.
