Serum Lp(a) lipoprotein concentrations in insulin dependent diabetic patients with microalbuminuria.

Abstract

Serum concentrations of Lp(a) lipoprotein are twice as high in insulin dependent diabetic patients with microalbuminuria as in those without microalbuminuria. Increased concentrations of Lp(a) lipoprotein might partly explain the increased morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease observed among patients with diabetic nephropathy.
