Abstract

In the so-called clarification filtration of dilute suspensions containing less than 0.1 vol.% solids1\ filter cake is hardly formed, and its filtration mechanism is dominated mainly by the interception of particles within the filter medium1\ As an interpretation of such filtration phenomena, the so-called blocking filtration theory was presented by Hermans and Bredee2), and was systematized by Grace1\ The increasing interest in clarifying filtration of non-Newtonian fluids may need a theory applicable to industrial problems, especially in clarification of various polymer solutions.
