A chromosomal recessive male‐sterility factor and a corresponding fertility factor on a homoeologous alien chromosome make available a system of producing hybrid wheat, Triticum aestivum L. era. Thell. Three lines, X, Y, and Z, are homozygous for the male‐sterility factor and contain 2, 1, and 0 doses of the alien chromosome, respectively. Limited roguing of plants possessing an alien trait is involved in the first stage only. Acquisition of required genetic stocks appears feasible.
