Treatment of RuTp(dmso)2Cl with an excess of HC⋮CR (R = Ph, C6H9, COOMe, n-Hex) and allyl alcohol in toluene at reflux affords the (allyloxy)carbene complexes RuTp(C(CH2R)OCH2CHCH2)Cl in good yields. With R = C7H15, in addition to the carbene complex, also RuTp(η3(O,C,C)-H2CCHCH2COC7H15)Cl and the free ketone 4-dodec-1-enone could be isolated. In the case of R = SiMe3, RuTp(COD)Cl instead of RuTp(dmso)2Cl had to be used as the starting material so as to obtain the corresponding (allyloxy)carbene. Representative X-ray structures are reported.
