Abstract

A distorted cube or two four-membered rings linked through two bonds are alternative descriptive of the tellurium polycation Te (shown on the right) in Te8(VOCl4)2 1. The Te and VOCl ions in 1 both form one-dimensional chains. The Te8 cube can be derived from the α-Po structure or from paired Te ions.
