Abstract Numerous large helical dislocations with lengths up to 4 mm and diameters between 10 and 130 μm have been observed in molybdenum by means of X‐ray topography. From these observations an equilibrium vacancy concentration of about 3 × 10 −6 at 2000 °C in molybdenum is derived.
