An overview of the ford foundation’s strategy for population work

From 1952-1968 the Ford Foundation expended $100000000 in population work. Of this about $55000000 went towards research in reproductive biology; $29000000 in training and research in the dissemination of information; and $17000000 in assistance to family planning programs. 68% of the funds have been spent in the U.S. on activities directed at developing countries; 15% in Asia 5% in Latin America 4% in the Middle East and 7% in Europe. $11600000 was given to university population centers. The Foundation has supported population and family planning programs in 26 countries in the developing world. It has also funded a few specific activities in the U.S. that have supported experimental programs intended to improve delivery of services.
