Abstract The vas deferens and the seminal vesicle of the guinea‐pig contained the high noradrenaline concentrations of 10 ± 0.56 and 4.3 ± 0.26 μg/g tissue respectively but negligible amounts of adrenaline. After reserpinization no measurable amounts of noradrenaline remained in the organs. Following partial removal of the hypogastric nerve the noradrenaline content of the organs was only slightly reduced, to 8 ± 0.76 and 4.2 ± 0.56 μg/g tissue respectively. The probable existence of a peripheral synaptic mechanism in the sympathetic innervation of the vas deferens and the seminal vesicle is discussed.
