Abstract

Abstract Six cyclic triphosphenium ions, including examples of five‐, six‐, and seven‐membered ring systems, have been successfully methylated by excess methyl triflate to form the corresponding dications. This has been unequivocally established by means of 31 P NMR spectroscopy; results are in good agreement with literature data for this type of compound. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
