Expression of neurotrophic factors in cultured human retinal pigment epithelial cells

Abstract

Our data demonstrate that cultured human RPE cells have the capacity to synthesize neurotrophins, and that various stimulations can up-regulate gene and protein expression of NGF by these cells.
