Analytical Lunar Ephemeris: The Variational Orbit

Abstract

In reference to the analytical solution of the main problem that has been recently constructed, the prin- cipal parts in the variational and parallactic inequalities of the longitude and in the mean motions of perigee and node are compared with partial results derived by Moulton, Brown, Hill, Andoyer, Cowell, and Moritz. The discussion purports to identify spots where it would be a somewhat elementary affair to test our basic contention that the literal series of the Analytical Lunar Ephemeris are correct.
