SUMMARY Control of nymphs of glasshouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum , on the underside of tomato leaves was better when plants were sprayed with resmethrin applied at ultra‐low volume with aerosol (approximately 20 μm volume median diameter) than with mist (78 μm VMD) droplets. The same trend was observed with pirimiphos‐methyl although this insecticide was less eifective than resmethrin, All treatments gave 100 per cent mortality of adults, but there was no effect on mature eggs.
