Abstract During the informationisation process of inner logistics, one of the main factors causing the business failure for SMEs in China is that the selected tools and methods of informationisation cannot adapt to the environment and scale of businesses properly. Directed at solving this problem, this article is intended to propose a so-called ‘Label-Card Management’ (LCM for short) for SMEs’ informationisation of the inner logistics. Through it, an enterprise can monitor the quantity and quality of work in progress during the whole course in a dynamic manner and further build an early-warning and early-control system. Firstly, the risk factors are analysed and a risk spectrum is drawn of inner logistics in SMEs. Secondly, the basic thought and main function of LCM are introduced while describing the early-warning management process of logistics risk based on LCM methods in SMEs. Thirdly, an early-warning model for inner logistics risk in the SMEs is constructed based on it. Finally, in order to demonstrate the value of our proposed approach and constructed model, empirical studies are conducted towards the inner logistics risk of Dongshun Automotive Fasteners Limited Corporation.
