Steady‐State Fluid Network Analysis

Abstract

The node method for steady state hydraulic network analysis has been studied by several researchers with different ways of handling the non‐linearities that are present in the head‐loss equations but convergence problems were continuously observed. The hybrid element formulation presented in this paper is a definite way of overcoming this problem. It should be incorporated in the governing equations when an element with very low resistance is present on the network. This formulation assures that the nodal heads and the element flows are calculated to the desired degree of accuracy.
