The 35Cl nuclear quadrupole resonance frequencies of 22 chlorocyclopropanes show that the frequencies of 1-chlorocyclopropanes are increased in a stereodependent manner by a further chlorine substituent in the 2-position, the difference between the shifts produced by cis or trans substituents being approximately 0.8 MHz. No such effect occurs for alkyl substituents.
