The effect of combined treatment with acetylsalicylic acid and dipyridamole on platelet consumption and aggregation was studied in 9 patients with peripheral atherosclerotic disease. The trial was carried out as a randomized double‐blind, cross‐over study. All patients had increased consumption of blood platelets. The treatment produced a marked inhibition of platelet aggregation, increased the bleeding time, but did not reduce the platelet consumption.
