17 O-Labeled amino acids are t-butoxycarbonylated without loss of 17 O-labeling by reaction with triethylamine and di-t-butyl dicarbonate in methanol or dimethylformamide and cleavage of the resultant t-butoxycarbonylamino acid ammonium salt by brief treatment with ice-cold dilute hydrochloric acid at pH 2.15.
