Abstract

This work explores the early years following the Free Officer's coup of 1952 in Egypt. It demonstrates how the officers' belief in a quick reformation by force was transformed into a long-term process that changed the face of Egypt. It analyzes the goals, programmes and successes and failures of the young regime.
