Abstract

Experimental aspects of conductivity and spin susceptibility measurements of conducting polymer films as a function of the redox state are discussed. An apparatus for in situ measurements in an electrochemical cell is described. The working electrode consists of two parts separated by an insulating gap which is bridged by the polymer film. Special geometry has been designed to make the cell compatible with utilization inside an ESR microwave cavity. A signal proportional to the film conductivity is recorded continuously as a function of the applied potential. Data obtained on polyaniline are reported. In particular a case of spinless conductivity is evidenced.
