Abstract

A mailed patient-reported outcomes questionnaire is a feasible method for national follow-up of hip fractures, with an acceptable response rate. The study also suggests that total hip arthroplasty as a treatment for femoral neck fracture is associated with less pain and greater satisfaction at short-term follow-up compared with internal fixation and hemiarthroplasty, both in patients younger and older than seventy years.
