Abstract

The usual evidence for the strange-quark content of the proton comes from chiral-symmetry breaking as measured in the pion-nucleon \ensuremath{\sigma} term, which involves the proton matrix elements of the scalar-quark densities. Another piece of evidence for it, which involves the proton matrix elements of the pseudoscalar-quark densities, is presented.
