A method for obtaining the surface areas `void-support' (S21), `metal-support' (S31) and `metal-void' (S32) from small-angle X-ray determinations of the initial slopes of the correlation functions of metal-free porous support and supported metal catalyst is given. The postulated model requires no special assumptions about the numerical value of S31, and appears applicable to certain experimentally observed systems.
