The AutoCacher: A File Cache Which Operates at the {NFS} Level

Abstract

The AutoCacher is a caching file system. Its most common use is to cache read-only files from remote NFS file systems to a local disk, although it can, in general, cache from any file system to any other. It is intended to provide the same type of file caching provided by, e.g., the Andrew File System.
