Comments on "Controllability, Observability and Structural Identifiability of Multi Input and Multi Output Biological Compartmental Systems"

Abstract

This correspondence is a critique of reference [1] (Cobelli and Romanin-Jacur, 1976). Properties equivalent to Complete Controllability (CC) in a structural sense and Complete Observability (CO) in a structural sense are presented. Deficiencies in their definition of structural identifiability are considered and alternate definitions to handle identifiability are provided. Finally a counterexample to the intended statement of Theorem 2.1 is presented.
