Abstract

Abstract In the case of polyvalent metals, the singularities in the transition probability determined by Bardeen can be avoided by performing the integration over the atomic polyhedron instead of the Wigner‐Seitz‐sphere. This new expression for the transition probability is used to compute the temperature‐dependence of the electrical resistivity for aluminium. Anisotropic effects due to the lattice waves are taken into account by a variational procedure. The agreement with experimental results is satisfactory.
