Abstract

Life Care at Home (LCAH), a new long-term care option, provides benefits similar to a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) at less cost to elderly who prefer to remain in their own homes. Surveys of applicants at two CCRCs revealed that nearly half expressed interest in LCAH. Those joining CCRCs primarily for social rather than health and financial reasons were less likely to be interested in LCAH. Those more likely to be interested in LCAH were concerned about community living, lifestyle changes in a CCRC, and its costs.
