Abstract

Chemerin concentrations are elevated in morbidly obese patients and correlated with insulin resistance and markers of liver pathology. Chemerin plasma concentrations decreased after bariatric surgery. This study suggests that chemerin might mediate metabolic alterations in obesity, drastically improving after gastric bypass.
