Abstract

Abstract cis ‐ and trans ‐1,4‐Di‐ t ‐butylcyclohexane have been prepared. Evidence is presented showing that the cis ‐isomer is mainly in a non‐chair conformation. The enthalpy difference between the two isomers in the liquid state at 25° is 4.7 kcal/mole, the trans ‐isomer having the lower strain.
