Personality traits and psychopathology are compared in two samples of drug addicts, one from Greece and the other from France, both attending treatment services. MMPI results indicate a high prevalence of psychopathology compared to the general population in both samples. While the overall patterns of psychopathology are similar between the two samples, differences are observed in the prevalences of the antisocial and the affective MMPI configurations, the first being three times as prevalent in the Greek and the latter twice as prevalent in the French sample. Findings are discussed taking into consideration the differences in prevalence of drug use in the two countries.
