Ultrasonographic Appearance of Breast Implant Complications

Abstract

In Brief A retrospective review of 107 silicone gel breast implants evaluated by both MRI and ultrasound demonstrated 61 implant-related complications, including 41% capsular contractures, 33% intracapsular ruptures, and 26% extracapsular ruptures. With a sensitivity of 90% and specificity of 100%, ultrasound was recommended as the primary screening tool.
