A simple and effective protocol is presented to fabricate SnO<sub>2</sub>/carbon/graphene (SnO<sub>2</sub>/C/GN) nanocomposites with different compositions and nanostructures. SnO<sub>2</sub>/C/GN-1.5 with only 1.5 wt% GN shows a stable capacity of 720 mA h g<sup>−1</sup> after 70 cycles, which is ascribed to the synergetic effects of a unique combination of material properties.
