AMONG the reported toxic and allergic reactions to sulfonamide drugs, meningitis and pancreatitis must be classed as extremely rare. We were unable to find reports of either of these complications. The following case illustrates these and other unusual manifestations observed in a patient taking sulfamethizole.§Case ReportMrs. S.I., a 23-year-old Negro woman, was admitted to the Massachusetts General Hospital in June, 1961, for an abscess of Skene's glands. Culture of the abscess revealed coliform organisms, and she was treated with tetracycline.¶ She was instructed to take a 10-day course of sulfamethizole (2 gm. daily) after discharge from the hospital. . . .
