PRIMARY TUBERCULOSIS OF THE CONJUNCTIVA

Abstract

THIS case is reported because primary tuberculosis of the conjunctiva is rarely seen in this country. Bordley¹was unable to find a case among over 41,000 patients treated at the Baltimore Eye, Ear and Throat Charity Hospital ; Burchell²could not recall having seen the disease in his twenty years at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and we have found no mention of it among the records of the Institute of Ophthalmology in New York. Isolated cases have been reported by Cohen,³Coover,⁴McKenzie,⁵Sitchevska and Sedam⁶and Thompson.⁷ <h3>REPORT OF A CASE</h3> A 9 year old boy was admitted to the Presbyterian Hospital on Sept. 27, 1937, complaining that nine days previously the right upper lid had become swollen for no apparent cause.
