Abstract

. Selenide is produced by biological processes, including the uptake and subsequent reduction of selenate and selenite by phytoplankton. This is a potentially important process considering that invertebrates such as the bivalves Macoma balthica and Potamocorbula amurensis assimilated Se associated with algal cells more efficiently than from inorganic particulate forms
