Abstract

Abstract This review of the clinical characteristics and prognoses of 161 patients with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis observed during a 20 year period indicates low incidence of severe systemic involvement and a more favorable prognosis for the disease, in general, than is usually assumed. Conservative therapy, with emphasis on bed rest, was found satisfactory although hormone therapy apparently improved the prognosis of patients with visceral lesions.
