A strain of polyoma virus isolated during serial IC passages of sarcoma 180 in 1-day-old Swiss mice and newborn hamsters produced only hydrocephalus in white Swiss mice and neoplasms in (C3 H + A K R) F1 mice. It is postulated that the hydrocephalus was due to the inammatory response produced by this strain of polyoma virus.
