The four case histories which I relate briefly here have this in common that the patients were young men, all soldiers, who during their military service, and probably as the result of work entailed by the latter, without any actual, preceding trauma got pain in the lower extremities; and, further, that in all the cases there could be felt a hard, solid thickening of the bone, and roentgen examination showed a periosteal reaction resembling the peeling of an onion, wherefore the patients were observed more or less with a view t o a possible Ewing's sarcoma.
