A case of necrotizing sialometaplasia of the bucca in an 80‐year‐old man is presented. Necrotizing sialometaplasia developed after the operation of a mesenchymal tumour of the bucca. The possible etiological role of decreased blood supply in the gland bearing area of the mucosa is discussed. We believe necrotizing sialometaplasia can occur at any site where salivary gland tissue is present.
