Abstract

A group of 52 patients undergoing reexploration for colonic cancer during the period 1957-1969 at Memorial Hospital is examined in detail. More than 60 per cent of the patients underwent curative resection upon exploration, with a five-year deteminate survival of 36 per cent. Eight patients underwent resections considered palliative for reasons detailed above. Twelve patients were explored and found to have disease precluding even palliative resection.
