Abstract

It can be concluded that PGE2 is involved in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease. The inflamed periodontal tissues may produce significant amount of PGE2 and the degree of inflammation might be determined by the ratios of PGE2. The lower levels of PGE2 in blood plasma and in gingival crevicular fluid after treatment are signs of improvement of periodontal disease.
