All-optical transmission switching is observed by superposition of continuous red (623.8 nm) and green (532 nm) laser light in a thin-film CdS on glass. The results demonstrate that all-optical digitizing can be realized by fairly simple means at modest laser powers not exceeding 50 mW. The transmittance alterations are induced by occupancy variations of the ground state and impurities.
