Bartholomew's Hospital During the -last few years there has been much con- troversy over the treatment of bleeding from the stomach and duodenum. Should we operate and, if so, what operation should we do? Should we transfuse? Is morphine harmful? Should we feed or starve the patient? Should we give alkalis? Does any treatment at all favourably influence the mortality? What is the mortality?
