Abstract

Wind turbines can cause interference to nearby radars due to strong backscattering. As a recently recognized type of radar interference, wind turbine radar signatures need to be fully studied. The scaled measurement of a wind turbine model has been proposed to characterize wind turbine radar signatures. The radar wind turbine testbed (RWT 2 ) has been developed for such a purpose. Polarimetric radar signatures derived from measurements reveal unique features that can be exploited to help identify wind turbines from desired radar targets.
