An experiment is described where rain at heights well above ground level was observed simultaneously by an airborne distrometer and a dual‐polarization radar. The parameters of the distribution of drop sizes and the rainfall rate were computed from both sets of observations assuming the distribution to have a negative exponential form. The parameters derived from the two sources of data are compared, and differences discussed.
